With a breadth of experience as a law firm partner, in-house attorney, accounting firm principle, and business owner, Phil Martinez has a full grasp on how to build, operate, improve profitability of, fund, and sell businesses. Phil prides himself on being an advisor with an owner’s perspective. His goal is simple – help business owners succeed at turning their passion into a thriving and successful business. From startups to billion-dollar windfarm projects, medical practices and hospitals to medical ancillary services, and small to large farming operations throughout the country, Phil has worked with a diverse group of business and real estate owners. He utilizes this experience to advise his clients while catering to their specific business and succession planning needs. Whether planned in advance or a last-minute emergency, Phil has worked with numerous families to come up with a strategic business transition to the next generation.

Phil regularly advises lenders and borrowers on the intricacies of loan documentation, secured transactions, and special assets situations. He also has legal, regulatory, and operational experience in the healthcare space, having navigated those waters as a laboratory owner himself. He currently advises a preeminent dermatopathology practices in Texas on business, regulatory, and payor related issues. Additionally, Phil has assisted medical facilities in working through issues and citations involving the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Phil has assisted and advised numerous physicians in acquiring and selling their practices. Phil complements his entire practice with an extensive estate planning background, designing sophisticated tax strategies involving complex charitable and estate-planning structures with the goal of minimizing taxes. 

Phil couples his robust experience with a counselor’s approach to devising solutions for his clients. A conscientious listener, Phil is eager to develop tailored solutions for each owner’s specific situation and needs. Phil is ready to work alongside or recommend accounting and financial experts so that his clients get a full spectrum of sound business and financial planning advice. 

Phil was born and raised in Eastern New Mexico and attributes his strong work ethic, family-oriented nature, and dedication to hard working and passionate people to his upbringing. Phil has an affinity for unique and challenging opportunities where he can find creative and sustainable solutions for his clients. Now living in Clovis, California, when not at work, Phil spends the majority of his time enjoying the activities of his three children. When time allows, Phil enjoys golfing, traveling, and watching college football. 

Phil received his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Notre Dame (2000 and 2003) and his Master of Laws in Taxation from the University of Washington School of Law in Seattle, WA (2004). He is licensed to practice law in the States of California and Texas.
